Inception (1999-2004)
The band was formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California with original members M Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev, and Matt Wendt. M Shadows came up with the name as a reference to the story of Cain and Abel from The Bible, although it is not a religious band.[1] Upon its formation, each member of the band also took on a pseudonym which were already nicknames of theirs from high school.[2] The band released two demos in the years 1999 and 2000. Avenged Sevenfold’s debut album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, was recorded when the band members were just eighteen years old and in high school. It was originally released on their first label, Good Life Recordings in 2001. After lead guitarist Synyster Gates joined the band, the introductory track “To End The Rapture” was re-recorded featuring a full band element. The album was subsequently re-released on Hopeless Records in 2002.
The band started to receive recognition, sharing the stage with metal acts like Mushroomhead and Shadows Fall and playing on the Take Action Tour.[3][4] Having settled on their fourth bassist, Johnny Christ, they released Waking the Fallen on Hopeless Record in August 2003. The band received profiles in Billboard and The Boston Globe, and played in the Vans Warped Tour.[5][6][7] In 2004, Avenged Sevenfold toured again on the Vans Warped Tour and recorded a video for their song “Unholy Confessions” which went into rotation on MTV2‘s Head banger’s Ball.[8] Shortly after the release of Waking the Fallen, Avenged Sevenfold was signed to Warner Bros. Records.
Lebron James Dunking or How to Improve Your Vertical Jump Today Friday, May 29 2009

Did you see Lebron James’ in-game dunk from the free throw line? How about his left handed jam over Dwight Howard? Seeing Lebron James dunking is simply amazing. Just in case you didn’t know: the 24-year old forward is in fifth place in dunks (90) this season (2008/2009). Only Dwight Howard (125), Amare Stoudemire (96), Nene (95) and Andrew Bynum (92) dunked more till the 02.06.2009.Believe it or now, James, standing at 6’8” and 250 lbs, has a 41-inch vertical. Now, how did he manage to get such a vertical jump? Here’s the secret: Olympic Weightlifting. Just like Baron Davis, Lebron used Olympic Weightlifting to increase his vertical jump. And here’s why: Several independent studies have proved the effectiveness of Olympic weightlifting in order to increasing your vertical jump. For example a group of lifters used Olympic lifts (High pulls, Power Clean, and Clean and Jerk) was compared to those using vertical jump exercises (Single and Double Leg Hurdles Hops, Alternated Single-leg Hurdle Hops, etc). After 8 weeks the Olympic weightlifting group had significantly increased their standing jump and their 10 meter sprint speed over the control group using standard vertical jump exercises (Tricoli, 2005). Of course, this isn’t the only exercise LeBron used to increase his vertical jump. Squats, Lunges, Leg Presses, Leg Extensions and Jump Rope are things you need to know about if you want to improve your vertical jump. But two things are crucial here: the right number of repetitions and the proper execution. That means you need a concrete workout plan. But keep in mind: jumping ability is about power AND quickness. So you also need to work on your quickness. Here’s a highly effective exercise to improve your quickness: Wind sprints (6 sets, 50 meters, 3 times and a week). That means to sprint or to run very fast for a short period of time, several times, 20-30 seconds in between. So, next time you see Lebron James dunking turn off the TV and start to workout!
